Paul Smith on Remote Viewing & UFOs

“Using one mystery to try to explain another: That’s what seems to be happening in the perpetual interplay between remote viewing (RV) and unidentified aerial phenomena–popularly known as UFOs–space aliens, and everything connected to them in the popular culture. This confluence of RV and UFOs goes back almost to the beginning of remote viewing itself, and not just the notorious, but some of the most prominent and respected members of the remote viewing community have indulged. Impossible to fully capture in one evening discussion, I nonetheless introduce you to the general outlines of the controversy, sketch for you the interrelationships of some of the main figures and their claims, show you some of the more provocative and interesting results, and explain the advantages and shortfalls of employing remote viewing to ferret out the truth of extraterrestrial visitation.”

Until next time… we hope to see you all at next week’s UFO/RV lecture!

Book of the Week…
Reading The Enemy’s Mind:
Inside Star Gate – America’s Psychic Espionage Program
By Paul H. Smith

“From behind the cloak of U.S. military secrecy comes the story of Star Gate, the project that for nearly a quarter of a century trained soldiers and civilian spies in extra-sensory perception (ESP). Their objective: To search out the secrets of America ‘s cold war enemies using a skill called “remote viewing.” Paul H. Smith, a U.S. Army Major, was one of these viewers. Assigned to the remote viewing unit in 1983 at a pivotal time in its history, Smith served for the rest of the decade, witnessing and taking part in many of the seminal national-security crises of the twentieth century.

With the Star Gate secrets declassified and the program mothballed by the Central Intelligence Agency, the story can now be told of the ordinary soldiers drafted onto the battlefield of human consciousness. Using hundreds of interviews with the key players in the Star Gate program, and gathering thousands of pages of documents, Smith opens the records on this remarkable chapter in American military, scientific, and cultural history. He reveals many secrets about how remote viewing works and how it was used against enemy targets. Among these stories are the search for hostages in Lebanon; spying on Soviet directed energy weapons; investigating the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland; tracking foreign testing of weapons of mass destruction; combating narco-trafficking off America’s coasts; aiding in the Iranian hostage situation; finding KGB moles in the CIA; pursuing Middle East terrorists; and more.

Between the lines in the official records are revelations about unrelenting attempts from within and without to destroy the remote viewing program, and the efforts that kept Star Gate going for more than two decades in spite of its enemies. This is a story for the believer and the skeptic—a rare look at the innards of a top secret program and an eye-opening treatise on the power of the human mind to transcend the limitations of space and time.”

Remote Viewing & UFOs

Using one mystery to try to explain another: That’s what seems to be happening in the perpetual interplay between remote viewing (RV) and unidentified aerial phenomena–popularly known as UFOs–space aliens, and everything connected to them in the popular culture. This confluence of RV and UFOs goes back almost to the beginning of remote viewing itself, and not just the notorious, but some of the most prominent and respected members of the remote viewing community have indulged. About Paul H. Smith …

Paul H. Smith was recruited into Star Gate remote viewing psychic espionage program in 1983. During his seven years in that program, he studied under the legendary Hal Puthoff and Ingo Swann, served as a first-line operational remote viewer, wrote the official manual on controlled remote viewing, and taught CRV to new military remote viewer candidates.  Among his students are included now-famous remote viewers such as Lyn Buchanan, Mel Riley, and David Morehouse.  Paul has briefed and demonstrated remote viewing to senators, admirals and generals, and other senior military and government officials.  He is president and chief instructor of Remote Viewing Instructional Services, Inc., and is a founding director of the non-profit International Remote Viewing Association, of which he is president.  His book “Reading the Enemy’s Mind: Inside Star Gate – America’s Psychic Espionage Program,” was a Book Bonus Feature and Editors Choice Selection for Readers Digest.

His latest book is “The Essential Guide to Remote Viewing: The Secret Military Remote Perception Skill Anyone Can Learn.”  Paul is also co-producer of the acclaimed DVD-based  “Learn Dowsing” training course, and the “Remote Perception: Basic Operational Training” remote viewing home-study program.  He has a BA from Brigham Young University, an MS from the National Defense University (both in Middle Eastern Studies), and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Texas at Austin, writing on consciousness, philosophy of mind, and philosophy of science.

DIRECTIONS to The Anomaly Archives

It’s a little tricky to find the first time, so here are the directions:

If you’re heading northwest on Research/183 from I-35, Mopac or 360, exit 183 at the Oak Knoll exit, pass through the light at Oak Knoll, and stay on the access road heading north. The next side street off the 183 access road will be Technology Blvd; do not turn on Technology. Immediately after you pass Technology, there will be a driveway on your right (the only one in that area) — Exit into that driveway. There will be a sign overhead for “Forest Plaza.” After you pull in, you’ll have no choice but to go to the left into Forest Plaza. Our building is the back left building within the complex — Suite 302. If you’re heading south on Research/183, you also exit at Oak Knoll, but take the u-turn just before you get to Oak Knoll, get over the right on the northbound access road, and prepare to make the right immediately after Technology Blvd. as in the directions above.

The Anomaly Archives Weekly Email Newsletter

March 15th, 2016 – Welcome to another great weekly edition of the newsletter…

Our Book-Of-The-Week is back and this issue’s selection is a personal favorite of mine. In the 1990s, when I was knee-deep in anomalous fringe-culture, I had come across the works of the nasally-voiced Terence McKenna through the psychedelic rave video Alien Dreamtime (by Ken Adams). I’d read an article or two by or about Terence but it was always something else to actually hear him speak. Years later I’d read this week’s Book-Of-The-Week selection, but I still remember coming across the trippy audio version of the book about he and his brothers adventures in the Amazon; where they were looking for the Spirit-Vine, Ayahuasca, but instead found the alien mushroom. It’s a fantastic tale and the audio version is filled with rain-forest noises and zany sound effects. Be sure to check out the links to digital scans of that book as well as streamable “Talking Book” versions.

As usual, we have a treasure trove of anomalousHEADLINES linked to articles of note from the past few weeks. Here in Austin, Texas we are in the midst of the annual Traffic-Jam known as SXSW. One of the few blessings during these Ides of March is the fact that it coincides with Spring Break, and so the incoming hordes are slightly off-set by the absent school aged kids and their parents clogging the roads. But there are always interesting things afoot during this “South By So What” season, and this year is no different. As a survivor of a mass shooting (The day madness went on paradeSan Antonio Express / DANGER: Parade of Mother’s Intuition by SMiles Lewis) I’m very interested in seeing the latest documentary about Austin’s infamous 1966 UT Tower Shooting. It’s getting good reviews and the clips I’ve seen look very well-done and respectful. I’ve met at least one of the survivors featured in the film and he, like me and others, have grave concerns about the upcoming synchronicity of the… Texas campus carry law will take effect on 50th anniversary of Charles Whitman shooting at UT(MySanAntonio.com). You can hear me talk about the 1979 San Antonio shooting in this archive of the March 11th, 2008 episode of my PsiOp-Radio show… starts at about the 48-50 minute mark within the MP3 archive.

Also in our HEADLINES section … Satanic Panics and rumors of ritual child abuse. At last month’s public meeting there was a lot of talk about tales of elite parapolitical pedophile trafficking and abuse networks. Human trafficking and child abuse are things we KNOW occur. Allegations of SRA (Satanic Ritual Abuse) have rightly been characterized as failures of law enforcement through bad interviewing techniques used with the alleged child-victims and witch-hunt-like round-ups of the accused. Hundreds of convictions from the 1980s have been overturned and it does appear that many of these cases were not actual examples of abuse. Yet we know of far too many other cases where the abuse was real, was ritualized, was part of a network trafficking in children and young adults. Among the threads discussed during last month’s meeting was the infamous case of “The Finders” (What is the Finders Cult?Stuff They Don’t Want You To Know – HowStuffWorks YouTube Video). In 2008 I interviewed Len Bracken, one of the few people to ever actually meet with and interview the head of “The Finders.” We spoke briefly about what he found; you can hear that interview at this link: Blue Rose Report interviews Len Bracken (mp3). Well Austin has its own historic case of an overturned SRA scenario and we’ve got links to theAustin Chronicle‘s multiple issues, articles and video covering the shattered lives of the falsely accused / wrongly convicted.

Book of the Week…

True Hallucinations:

Being an Account of the Author’s Extraordinary Adventures in the Devil’s Paradise
By Terence McKenna

This Publishers Weekly review pretty much sums it up:

In 1971 ethnobotanist McKenna (The Archaic Revival), his brother Dennis and three friends boated to a town in Amazonian Colombia, seeking a hallucinogenic plant that enables the Witoto tribe to talk to elf-like “little men.” In psychedelicized ravings interspersed with diary excerpts, McKenna records their experiences after ingesting mind-altering mushrooms and other psychoactive plants.

A flying saucer slowly flew over McKenna’s head; he calls it a “holographic mirage” of a future technology. Dennis had a revelation about a “psychofluid” that pervades the universe. McKenna flashes forward to Hawaii in 1975 where mantis-like creatures from hyperspace attack his lover, and flashes back to his tantric lovemaking in Tibet and to Indonesia where unrepentant Nazi scientists tried to recruit him in 1970. He posits the existence of a particle of time, the chronon, which conditions matter. A bizarre book.

Please RSVP via the Austin Astral Projection Meetup group listing.

The 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C. were arguably one of the most disturbing events to happen so far this century. There are many unexplained anomalies associated with these attacks. The number and nature of the anomalies have led a significant and growing number of people to question the official explanation of these events as simply the result of a small band of terrorists.

This investigation takes a fresh look at these events using remote-viewing methods that were originally developed by the U.S. military and used for espionage purposes.

As part of the Farsight 911 Project, local Remote Viewer Todd Ronan contributed 6 RV sessions and will summarize those sessions in an effort to help decode the events of September 11th, 2001.

Robert Powell on UFOs & Government

Anomaly Archives presents Robert Powell on UFOs & Govt

Saturday, March 29th, 2014

Free Event – Donations Welcomed!

Robert Powell has been the Director of Research at MUFON since 2007 and is also the head of MUFON’s Science Review Board. He is an active Field Investigator in the state of Texas having completed over 120 investigations and is a MUFON Star Team member. He is one of two authors of the detailed radar/witness report on the Stephenville Lights. Robert is also a member of the Society for Scientific Exploration, the National Space Society, and the Académie d’Ufologie. Robert is active with FOIA requests to various government organizations to obtain information on historical cases and is a co-author of a book published in July 2012: UFOs and Government: A Historical Inquiry. Robert currently resides in Austin, Texas.
Robert has a BS in Chemistry and is a former collegiate debater. He has 28 years in engineering management in the semiconductor industry from 1978 to 2006. While working at Advanced Micro Devices he has taken numerous internal courses related to device physics, design of experiments, and statistical analysis. He helped Advanced Micro Devices develop its first flash memory technology that is used in today’s flash cards for cameras, PCs, video cameras, and other products. His experience includes managing a state-of-the-art chemistry laboratory and managing a Research and Development group that worked on nanotechnology using atomic force microscopes, near-field optical microscopy, and other techniques. Robert is also a co-holder of four patents related to nanotechnology.
Talk Synopsis: UFOs & Government: The Historical and Changing Role of Government over Time
Governments have been concerned about UFO sighting reports since WWII, but historians have never made a concerted attempt to understand their often contradictory responses to the phenomenon. How could something of such potential technological and national security consequence have left no visible trace in the history books? Whether it’s a conspiracy or not, the subject has been marginalized to such an extent that it’s as if the military never acted with alarm on the heels of a UFO sighting, as if the intelligence community never took up the issue behind closed doors, as if government research and development efforts never attempted to duplicate the phenomenon. But they have. Robert Powell will discuss how governments, especially the U.S. government, have dealt with the UFO phenomenon and will provide a hypothesis as to why the phenomenon took its roots during WWII.

SMiles Lewis will explore UFO Close Encounters and “alien abductions” with an eye towards an interpretation of these events as a Transpersonal Inter-Species Virtual-Reality Communications mechanism using “out-of-body-like” altered states of consciousness. He will speculate on the nature and meaning of these experiences and the possible manipulation of these phenomena by “alien” and human agencies for parapolitical purposes.  Drawing on both witness testimony and the work of the world’s leading UFO researchers, SMiles will explain the various intelligences (human and otherwise) behind the UFO phenomenon which have the apparent ability to manipulate belief systems, consciousness, space-time, and what some might term the “soul.”
