Seasons Greetings & Happy Holiday Festivities to all of our Anomalist, Fortean, and UFOlk friends and supporters from around the world.
This issue signals a departure from our past approach to “weekly” installments of the Anomaly Archives eNewsletter. We’ve done this latest iteration of the eNews for over three years now. We’re still going to be sending you anomalous emails but we’ll be experimenting with some new ways of doing that in the coming months … as we enter the ever liminal “Hindsight / MindSight” zone of the year 2020.
Things are shaping up to be very interesting next year for the Anomaly Archives. We hope to be making some big announcements soon about probable new monthly meetups, special cinema events, amazing lectures and much more.
In the meantime, keep your eyes open for details about our upcoming Holiday Party that starts with special guest presenter, channeler Ruth L. Miller. This event is being cosponsored by the IONS Austin Community Group, INACS (Institute for Neuroscience And Consciousness Studies), and the Anomaly Archives. “Keep Top Eye Open” for the official announcement with all the details.
Psst … It’s happening Sunday, December 15th.

We are so thankful to all of our supporters and hope you will enjoy this special Thanksgiving Video release of a past Anomaly Archives lecture by former military remote viewer, Paul Smith, on the intersection of two fascinating topics: UFOs and Remote Viewing. Enjoy…

The Anomaly Archives presents
Paul Smith “Remote Viewing UFOs: Pitfalls and Promise”

“Using one mystery to try to explain another: That’s what seems to be happening in the perpetual interplay between remote viewing (RV) and unidentified aerial phenomena–popularly known as UFOs–space aliens, and everything connected to them in the popular culture. This confluence of RV and UFOs goes back almost to the beginning of remote viewing itself, and not just the notorious, but some of the most prominent and respected members of the remote viewing community have indulged. Impossible to fully capture in one evening discussion, I nonetheless introduce you to the general outlines of the controversy, sketch for you the interrelationships of some of the main figures and their claims, show you some of the more provocative and interesting results, and explain the advantages and shortfalls of employing remote viewing to ferret out the truth of extraterrestrial visitation.”

I first heard Vallee use that same basic line back in 1992 at the MUFON symposium in Albuquerque, NM. In his opening line (it is in the official printed proceedings) he said…

I too can imagine the dvd release including digitally modified elements (think of the CGI’d-out machine guns held by the Feds in Spielberg’s E.T.) … but, perhaps it really is just a trick of memory for the braces… my wife hadn’t seen Moonraker and when my friend and I watched the DVD blu-ray version (it’s what we had on hand) and went to that scene, my wife commented that perhaps the fact that Dolly was wearing glasses and pigtails was enough for most minds watching it at the time to imagine she had braces, like the overlay of a false “archetypal nerd image” on top of the perception. But that still does not sit well with me because I always remembered that (at least, in retrospect I believe I’ve always remembered it that way) as the POINT of the scene, especially with her SMILING to reveal her teeth AFTER the Jaws character reveals his mouthful of metal!

Just a quick note to say I’ve been saddened this past week to discover the recent

The Anomaly Archives Weekly Email Newsletter
In this newsletter we have the usual assortment of amazing anomaly headlines as well as a new video from the Anomaly Archives. The video was something I stumbled across recently while double-checking a bunch of old VHS tapes that I thought were empty / blank. As many of you know, I was in charge of hosting and organizing the 38th annual National UFO Conference which was to be the 3rd NUFOC in a row to be held in Texas. The previous year’s event had been held in Corpus Christi and the year before that it was held in San Antonio. It was at that
Since the end of 2018 the Anomaly Archives has been acquiring the personal library and research materials of Robert Joseph Durant. Bob Durant is mostly known for his advocacy of the 1947 Roswell Crash but he has a rich background as a Fortean / Anomalist. He was a huge fan of the works of Charles Fort and served on the board of cryptozoologist Ivan Sanderson’s organization, SITU: Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained. He was also fascinated with psychic phenomena and had become good friends with remote viewers Ingo Swann and Paul Smith. Among his materials were copies of The Anomalist journal featuring his articles on a personal experience with Stigmata and the psychic experiences of Malcolm-X.

Another month and a half has passed without this “weekly” email newsletter arriving in your inbox. It’s been a wild whirlwind of ordinary personal life situations keeping me from sitting down and banging out another one of these updates, and… I also went plummeting out of an airplane (thankfully strapped to someone with a parachute) recently! Yeah, that was crazy fun!
For the past few months, with the help of several volunteers, the Anomaly Archives has expanded its weekly Open Public Hours to include Thursdays and Saturdays from 2 pm to 6 pm. We hope you’ll plan your next visit ASAP and come check out our Amazing Archival Collections and check out a book to read from the Lending Library. You can always search our
Over the past month and a half we’ve seen the passing of legendary paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren, UFO researcher / lecturer Stanton T. Friedman, as well as Texas Psychonaut, Roky Erickson:

“Douglas Curran has rediscovered the New World – with its own religion and a tribe of credulous believers no less brave than the Cree or the Wampanoag. A not-ready-for-prime-time cult that makes up in fervor what it lacks in style. One that seems to worship equally Ray Walston and Stephen Hawking.”

I’ve known author and researcher

“Thomas Baker “Tom” Slick, Jr. (May 6, 1916 – October 6, 1962) was a San Antonio, Texas-based inventor, businessman, adventurer, and heir to an oil and beef empire established by his father in the Southwest. As I have chronicled, Slick’s sponsorship of cryptozoology expeditions in the late 1950s and early 1960s was pivotal to the young science.

There is always so much going on that I’d like to explore and comment upon but alas, there aren’t enough hours in my day – if only the Anomaly Archives were my “day job.” Suffice to say I urge you to comb through this issue’s many items of interest; from the Video-of-the-Week and Cargo-Culture columns to the amazing array of Anomalous-Headlines.
“It bears repeating that TTSA’s connection with the US Intelligence world should not be overlooked… Whenever the CIA or other agencies get involved in the production of a UFO documentary, some subrosa agenda is always embedded…
