The Anomaly Archives Presents: Fortean Cryptozoologist Jonathan Downes

Saturday, March 20th 1:30-3:30pm CST

12593 Research Blvd., Suite 302, Austin, Texas 78759

“Cryptozoology’s answer to Hunter Thompson” – Nick Redfern

[Jon Downes at Loch Ness in 2005]

The Anomaly Archives welcomes British Fortean researcher Jon Downes to Austin, Texas for a lecture on all things anomalous, Fortean, cryptozoological and UFOlogical. Please join us at the Anomaly Archives lending library (located at 12593 Research Blvd., Suite 302) from 1 to 5pm, Saturday, March 20th for an enlightening lecture from one of the world’s leading cryptozoological field investigators.

This lecture event is FREE, however, a $5 donation is respectfully requested for those wishing to help support the Anomaly Archives in its non-profit community education, outreach and research efforts.

Jonathan Downes is the Director of the British-based Center for Fortean Zoology, the world’s only full-time group dedicated to the investigation of unknown animals, including Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, Ogopogo, and the Abominable Snowman.

In both 1998 and 2004, Jon traveled to the island of Puerto Rico in search of the deadly, blood-sucking creature known as the Chupacabras – a beast that has been linked with a large amount of UFO activity, including UFO crashes, on the island.

Jon will be speaking about his two expeditions, findings, theories and conclusions as to what the creature may be. Jon will also reveal the very latest news on his quest to find out the truth concerning the so-called Texas Chupacabras.

Are the beasts of Puerto Rico and Texas one and the same? Or, is something even stranger going on? Don’t miss this rare chance to see Jon Downes expose the truth of this strange and sensational mystery.

Jonathan Downes is the author and co-author of numerous books on the subjects of Fortean phenomena, especially cryptozoological critters such as Owlman, the Monster of the Mere and others. Besides his research, writing and activism, Jon Downes is also an accomplished film maker having worked on over 7 films. He also produces a regular online video series for the Centre for Fortean Zoology called On The Track (Of Unknown Animals).

The League of Western Fortean Intermediatists:

www.ForteansWest.com

A friend of mine, Skylaire Alfvegren, recently began her own regional strange phenomena oriented organization. More than just another ghost hunting, UFO data collecting, or bigfoot tracking group, my friend has created a unique collective of anomalous informationalists: The League of Fortean Intermediatists, aka LOWFI and Forteans West.

I’m proud to be her easternmost representative, serving as Texas Bureau Chief, and blogging on all things anomalous and Fortean happening in and around the State. One of my most recent blogs archives my roundup of Texas strangeness that I originally published when I was editor of the Austin Para Times newspaper:

AusTex Anomalous Para Guide to Texas

apt3-pg6 / apt3-pg7

But there many other fine contributors to this new Fortean League representing each of the Western States (still seeking Bureau Chiefs for a few states) as well as monthly Featured Editorials including the premier post by former British UFO official, Nick Pope. Check em all out …

  • Review: C.B. Scott Jones Austin Lecture
In November the Austin community was treated to an intimate lecture by the enigmatic paranormal, ufo, mind/science personage, C. B. “Scott” Jones. Scott Jones led the audience through a non-linear journey encompassing several of the anomalous highlights of his life.

This lifetime of mysterious experiences included a possible multiple child alien-abduction-like encounter with a cartoon Felix the Cat (image right) come-to-life off a film projector screen and an early age brush with death as a baby that was later revealed to Scott by two independent psychics to have been his earliest possible contact with Alien Others. This early age contact was seemingly confirmed when Scott Jones underwent regressive hypnosis sessions with UFO researchers Dr. Leo Sprinkle and Dr. Richard Haines which led to “memories” of  being healed by an Alien Other and an Out of Body Experience, recall of which ends with him as a baby, floating out in space above the earth and about to enter a UFO.

Scott continued recounting his extraordinary life-experiences, including his work investigating the paranormal for Senator Claiborne Pell and seeking UFO disclosure for Laurence Rockefeller. He detailed his psychic intuitive hunt for missile sites during his service as Attaché in India. He spoke of his work tasking psychic Remote Viewers for military, intelligence and political clients in Washington and even gave details of his strange encounter with the FBI in which his friend Michael Drosnin (author of The Bible Code) was seemingly targeted with what they both believe to be some sort of electronic mind-control device which temporarily incapacitated Mr. Drosnin. It was likely this encounter and their other research that led to this alleged statement addressing Dr. John Gibbons (science advisor of President Bill Clinton) regarding the Rockefeller UFO Initiative:

“…I urge you to take another look in the ‘UFO Matrix of Belief’ that I provided you last year. My mention of mind-control technology at the February 4 meeting was quite deliberate. Please be careful about this. There are reasons to believe that some government group has interwoven research about this technology with alleged UFO phenomena. If that is correct, you can expect to run into early resistance when inquiring about UFOs, not because of the UFO subject, but because that has been used to cloak research and applications of mind-control activity.”

– Dr. C.B. Scott Jones

After the official lecture Scott and many audience members migrated to the BookPeople store a few blocks away and continued the discussions about UFOs and much much more.
We look forward to hearing more from C. B. Scott Jones in the coming years.

Free Austin Lecture: C.B. Scott Jones on UFO Disclosure – Austin, November 25th

80 Years with a Blinking 3rd Eye – Free Austin Event

The name C.B. Scott Jones is both obscure to many a casual UFO buff yet widely known among “deep seekers” of the UFOlogical and Parapsychological communities. His work for Senator Claiborne Pell investigating paranormal phenomena and his briefing of President Clinton’s Science Adviser on behalf of Laurance Rockefeller are the stuff of legend – and yet they are fact. He is the founder of the Human Potential Foundation and the Center for Applied Anomalous Phenomena. He supported the Fund for UFO Research (FUFOR), served on the board and as President of the American Society for Psychical Research (ASPR) and  served as board member for Atlantic University (a division of ARE, the Edgar Cayce organization the Association for Research and Enlightenment). He also helped with the TREAT II (Treatment and Research of Experienced Anomalous Trauma) conference at Virginia Tech that brought together many in the UFO, alien abduction and paranormal research fields.

These and a lifetime of other anomalous experience make Cecil B. “Scott” Jones an extraordinary guest for the Austin Consciousness / Anomaly Community.

We hope you will join us in welcoming C.B. “Scott” Jones this coming Tuesday night:

Tuesday, November 25, 2008, 6:30 – 8:30 P.M.
Austin History Center, 810 Guadalupe St., Austin, TX
Free and open to the public.

Parapsychology Groups in Austin? – Austin American-Statesman

Parapsychology Groups in Austin?  Austin American-Statesman (subscription), TX – Aug 19, 2007:  Several years back there was a parapsychology group in Austin. Are there any similar groups in this area now? — P.L. Prout

I just sent you an answer telepathically. For those of you who need to communicate in a more traditional manner, the answer is yes. Austin is home to the Institute for Neuroscience and Consciousness Studies, a nonprofit organization whose membership includes doctors in the field of psychology. Stephen Miles Lewis, vice president of the group, defines parapsychology as the science of anomalous cognition, or nontraditional means of thinking and awareness. The group’s mission is to “expand the scientific understanding of human consciousness and to develop practical applications of this understanding for public benefit, by conducting scientific research in psi (psychic abilities) and related phenomena and by offering educational opportunities to the public.”Research topics include lucid dreams and other altered states of consciousness. The group meets periodically (its most recent meeting took place at BookPeople and featured the author of a book on hypnosis). For more information, visit www.inacs.org. Lewis is also involved in the Anomaly Archive, www.anomalyarchives.org, which maintains a library of books related to parapsychology for its members.<www.statesman.com>
