Anomaly Archives Presents…

Maya Shamanism: The Transmutation of Sustenance
by Dr. Barbara MacLeod

Sunday, September 23rd – 3pm at The Anomaly Archives

The Anomaly Archives is proud to support the Mysterious Ancient Civilizations meetup group in presenting this lecture from Austin’s own Mayan language expert, Dr. Barbara MacLeod.

Maya Shamanism: The Transmutation of Sustenance

Dr. Barbara MacLeod takes us on a journey of the metaphysical ideology of the Classic Maya royal court through translations of hieroglyphs found on cups that were from the Maya royal dynasty.

“The ancient Maya practiced state shamanism, in which kings and their families engaged in conjuring deities and ancestors and made offerings of their own blood to feed the earth. War captives were common offerings as well. Mythological scenes on royal drinking-cups placed in tombs feature serpent-deities conjured amid altered states of consciousness, and it is now possible to speculate on the entheogenic plants used. Sometimes the conjurors themselves were deities.

This practice was fundamental to Maya kingship and became fossilized and codified in the form of the “ceremonial serpent bar” worn by kings at the accessions at major events in the calendar. Infants were also sacrificed, although likely not those of royalty; another mythic theme on these cups depicts the sacrifice of a human baby who becomes an infant jaguar as he transitions from one world to the next. All of this is orchestrated by k’awiil–the metaphysical manifestation of lightning.

This is an origin myth, archaic at the time these vases were painted. It functioned as a charter for the ongoing reciprocity between humans and gods required for the perpetuation of the royal dynasty, the fecundity of the earth, and the reliability of the rains.” Dr. Barbara MacLeod

If the cups could talk, oh the stories we would hear!

We hope you’ll join us on a journey of myths, ceremonies, royalty, and sacrifices of the ancient Maya civilization.

Meeting to be held in second floor conference room. Access into building is limited, door person will be at the front door to allow guests to enter. Door may be locked 10 minutes after meeting starts, please try to arrive before 3pm.

Suggested donation $5 in support of Anomaly Archives.

Video-of-the-Week

Recently I’ve had the chance to catch-up on a number of wonderful videos produced by Jason Charbonneau at his Think Anomalous YouTube Channel. There are so many great videos to watch there like the one about The Voronezh UFO Landing, 1989 and Hieronyma and the Incubus – Sleep Paralysis, Sexuality, and Anomalous Entity Encounters, or classic monster encounters like the Flatwoods “Monster,” 1952 and Kelly Hopkinsville Encounter, The Goblin “Invasion” of 1955 and important historic cases from outside North America such as Italy’s Zanfretta Abductions, 1978-1981 and Sweden’s Abduction of Jacob Jacobsson, 1759. Of course, the video that would make me decide to feature it as our Video of the Week is about my favorite researcher … Jacques Vallée.

Book-of-the-Week

For this week’s book, we’re going Atlantean with one of our many books on the subject of this mythic ancient civilization. We have so many books in our Girard Collection focused on this topic but this particular title stands out due both to its being an autographed copy of a small original print-run but also the strange binding that features patterned cloth – of which there were several different prints used as one can see looking over the other rare copies for sale online. Also, you have to admire the artwork used on later traditional print-runs that feature a dynamic painting by the author. (See below).

New Meetup Group

We’ve resurrected our Anomaly Archives Meetup.com Group and will soon begin posting information about upcoming get-togethers here at the archive and lending library… and BEYOND!!

Volunteering at the Archives

Folks have been helping us finish setting up our new shelving, organizing the collections, tweaking the online catalog and more. In the near future we’ll need many more volunteers to help us staff the Anomaly Archives so that it can finally begin having traditional weekday business hours. If you think you have what it takes to help the Anomaly Archives achieve its operational goals, please give founder SMiles Lewis a call (512-842-9046) or send an email (contact@anomalyarchives.org).

Jacques Vallée, UFOs, and the Case Against Aliens

  Think Anomalous

  Published on Jan 22, 2017
“For more than 20 years after the flying saucer frenzy of the late 1940s, the Extraterrestrial Hypothesis (ETH) remained the default explanation for UFOs. Jacques Vallée, a French astronomer and ufologist, was the first to challenge the ETH, and he followed the UFO data towards some unorthodox and fascinating conclusions.

Book Of The Week

Atlantis: Mother of Empires
by Robert B. Stacy-Judd

“It is my wish to discuss with the reader certain assumptions and opinions, hypotheses and theories in an easily understandable form and in a spirit free of dogmatism and intolerance .” Robert B. Stacy-Judd (1884-1975)

bb ) Among the classics of Atlantology of the first half of the twentieth century that are little known in this country are Robert Benjamin Stacy-Judd’s, 1939, major work: Atlantis – Mother of Empires . [1] This opus represents one of the great Atlantic studies in the school of Ignatius Donnelly (1831-1901), in which the classical theory of Atlantological diffusionism is represented in a modified and updated variation.

Book-of-the-Week

Recently, while organizing the books on the shelves at our new location, I was reminded of yet another fantastic collectible within our Robert C. Girard Collection. It seemed serendipitous considering this recent New York Postheadlined article,Incredible discovery made inside Great Pyramid of Giza, wherein it states that, “Researchers modeled the distribution of electromagnetic fields inside the pyramid while studying the interactions of electrical waves. Scientists have deduced that the pyramid concentrates this electromagnetic energy in its hidden chambers, which include rooms containing the remains of Pharaoh Khufu and his wife. … And the team’s analysis shows that the powerful pyramid concentrates electromagnetic energy in its internal chambers.” Of course the article goes on to state, “But scientists believe the unusual discovery about the electromagnetic energy in the pyramid is just a coincidence.

Perhaps our book of the week has some insights into this discovery? Well, whatever the quality and veracity of the information held within this week’s tome, we’re pleased as punch to have it since it is inscribed by the author to none other than classic contactee, George Van Tassel!

The ADAM Research Project Begins
#TheADAMResearchProject – The ADAM Research Project, an acronym for Acquisition & Data Analysis of Materials, will focus on the collection and scientific evaluation of material samples obtained through reliable reports of advanced aerospace vehicles of unknown origin. From time to time, various sources have collected material samples reported to have come from advanced aerospace vehicles of unknown origin (popularly known as UAP – Unidentified Aerial Phenomena – or UFOs.) Those sources include private citizens, foreign aerospace investigatory committees, aerospace operators and government organizations. As these materials have come to light, they can be made available for inspection. Given the potential significance of such findings, To The Stars Academy has made it a Tier-1 priority to use its resources to subject these materials to detailed and rigorous scientific evaluation whenever feasible. As soon as TTS Academy is notified that materials are available, a thorough effort will be made to document their origin and credibility, followed by the establishment of chain-of-custody procedures and ownership protocols. In addition to reviewing the materials for their potential significance as evidence of exotic origin, the analysis will evaluate materials for such characteristics as exceptional strength, lightweight build and any unusual advanced properties that potentially could contribute to the development of exciting new technologies in the future. As a first step, TTS Academy has established a contract with EarthTech International, Inc., (www.earthtech.org) a well-respected research think tank in Austin, Texas, to evaluate the properties of the available materials. Under the leadership of Dr. Harold E. Puthoff, a former Senior Advisor and Subcontractor to the Pentagon’s AATIP program (Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program) and current VP of Technology for TTS Academy, EarthTech is well-positioned to head up this materials research plan.”

Video-of-the-Week

Recently, I’ve been listening to several episodes of (researcher and radio host) Greg Bishop‘s latest podcast archives of his recent Radio Misterioso interview shows. Among these gems is one I’ve been listening to over and over again – his interview with researcher David Perkins. David was to be one of the many speakers I had scheduled for the ill-fated National UFO Conference in 2001. He is perhaps the person whose ideas are closest to my own – at least as they relate to possible true sources of the UFO phenomenon. He senses the same potentials of abuse by the powers-that-be, for mythological engineering and developing belief systems towards political actions, as I do. But it’s his other ideas about the “TrUFOs,” the true UFO phenomenon, that interest me the most. He is one of the few people exploring UFOs and related phenomena from an ecological systems perspective. David thinks of UFOs, associated paranormal activity, and the Cattle Mutilation phenomenon as part of an  “Evolutionary Imperative Theory” that could originate from a Gaian (global super organism) Overmind; a sort of survival strategy from the unconscious (of either the planet or humanity itself). Undercurrents evident within encounter narratives flow through the collective unconscious and influence us through UFO reports and science fiction, and perhaps reflect this organism’s survival strategy: to evolve humanity spaceward; to get us off the earth and colonizing other planets, thus making us less vulnerable to extinction – while preparing us for inevitable contact with true aliens through theatrical “alien” close encounters. This is perhaps the evolutionary intent of such a potential planetary organism. In one sense he is advocating for the archetype of the Trickster to be reconsidered as an elemental force of nature. This and so much more are explored in this excellent Radio Misterioso interview. I highly recommend it to anyone who thinks there may be value in these alternative UFOlogical perspectives. So check out!

In the meantime, you should also watch the Video-of-the-Week (below) that features David Perkins giving a lecture on Paranormal Phenomena and the Gaian Mind (circa 2004).

My Trip To Mars, The Moon, And Venus
by Buck Nelson

Aaron Gulyas’ Saucer Life podcast episode covering the Buck Nelson’s contactee saga:

Encounter 601: Me and You and a Dog Named Bo

It’s back to the 1950s this week with one of the most interesting Contactees of that period, Buck Nelson. Giant dogs, rants about canned pork and beans, the odd phenomenon of present day folks “revising” Contactee books, get-rich-quick schemes, the Queen of Atlantis, saucer conventions, entrepreneurial spirit, and re-working the Ten Commandments. It’s all here in Encounter 601 of The Saucer Life.

The Anomaly Archives Weekly Email Newsletter

May 29th, 2018 – Austin, Texas

Greetings everyone!

It’s taken me even longer than usual to get this latest newsletter “out the door” and into your inbox. We’ve been hard at work unpacking the books onto our new shelves and moving more of the remaining materials from our off-site locations over into our new location. We’ve had our first board meeting in the new space and added a new Advisory Board member – more on that soon.

At the end of last month, between the previous eNews issue and this one, I took a vacation to the 3rd annual ParaMania UnConference in New Orleans and met up with broadcasters / podcasters Tim Binnall and Greg Bishop, as well as researchers / writers Joshua Cutchin and Kenn Thomas while also seeing a gaggle of dear para-interested UFOlk friends, including artist and writer RPJ aka Red Pill Junkie. At the end of that celebration, Tim Binnall did a live webcast saying farewell to his Binnall-of-America interview podcast formula that he’d been conducting since 2005. Check out the archived podcast and reflective article here:

Meanwhile, we are getting very excited about hosting an Open House event in the near future. Stay tuned for details. In the meantime, please familiarize yourself with our new location in the heart of Austin, just South East of downtown and just North of Lady Bird Lake (the Colorado River):

55 North IH-35 (Frontage Road), Suite 260,

Austin, Texas 78702

New OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog)

COMING SOON!  We have a new online catalog that will prove very helpful to all. You can take a peak at what it will be like by going here:

Nearly a decade ago we experimented with the services of LibraryThing.org and we recently rediscovered them and there new TinyCat online catalog service. The version of the collection you see there is a kind of snapshot of the Anomaly Archives’ collection circa 2009. We are in the process of updating it to include our thousands of books and magazines that we’ve added in the decade since. You can go there now and get a sense of what it will be like… below are some screenshots of the main page and an individual book’s sub-page. We’ll tell you more about this new OPAC once it’s been updated with our current collections holdings.

Book-of-the-Week

Recently a friend invited me to do one of those Facebook lists: the “Seven Days, Seven Books” variety. Picking only 7 meaningful / important-to-me books was a fun challenge. These are by no means my “Ultimate Top 7” but they reflect the main range of interest I have and include some fiction but mostly non-fiction.

This issue’s Book-of-the-Week choice is a fantastic and fun Fortean tome that I’ve been slowly reading this past year – taking my time to soak-in the truly bizarre story of Gef, the talking mongoose. Below are my seven selections from the aforementioned Facebook list…

SMiles’ 7 Days / 7 Books List

  • Day 1 – Neuromancer by William Gibson, Fortean
  • Day 2 – Messengers of Deception by Jacques Vallee
  • Day 3 – The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch by Philip K. Dick
  • Day 4 – Cyberbiological Studies of the Imaginal Component in the UFO Contact Experience edited by Dennis Stillings
  • Day 5 – Battle for the Mind: The Mechanics of Indoctrination, Brainwashing and Thought Control by William Sargant
  • Day 6 – Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson
  • Day 7 – Gef! The Strange Tale of an Extra-Special Talking Mongoose by Christopher Josiffe

Videos-of-the-Week

We’re sharing a couple of videos in this issue … first is a new YouTube archive of our very first Anomaly Archives eNews Podcasts produced back in 2005. The second is titled “Calling Occupants” and is a relaxed exploration of modern UFO Contact Culture featuring interviews with Grant Cameron, Stan Friedman and other notables.

Listen to all of our past (discontinued) podcast series at the link here:

Headline News Section

As usual, we have a ton of news links below in our Anomaly Headlines section … sadly, there have been a number of people passing over, from the paranormal’s most prolific writer, Brad Steiger, to one of the most controversial para-publishers, Adam Parfrey of Feral House publishing.

In the links below you’ll find articles about the ongoing investigations into and revelations about the Pentagon’s “UFO” program that contracted with billionaire Bob Bigelow’s aerospace company (which is now tied to the To The Stars campaign run by DeLonge, Puthoff, Elizondo and others), plus news links about continuing controversies surrounding MUFON, many mainstream articles about Bigfoot, Cryptozoology, Lake Monsters, Fortean Phenomena, Parapsychology Research, Library and Information Science, Magic and Technology and much more. All these great Anomaly News headline links can also be viewed via our Flipboard Magazine…

Book of the Week…

Gef! The Strange Tale of an Extra-Special Talking Mongoose

by Christopher Josiffe

Gef is visible in the weeds in the lower right corner of the full cover.

“I am the fifth dimension! I am the eighth wonder of the world!”

“During the mid-1930s, British and overseas newspapers were full of incredible stories about Gef, a ‘talking mongoose’ or ‘man-weasel’ who had allegedly appeared in the home of the Irvings, a farming family in a remote district of the Isle of Man.

The creature was said to have the ability to talk in several languages, to sing, to steal objects from nearby farms and to eavesdrop on local people, such that they became uneasy at the farmer’s seeming ability to be able to tell them their most private goings-on.

Despite written reports, magazine articles and books, several photographs, fur samples and paw prints, voluminous correspondence and signed witness statements, there is still no consensus as to what was really happening to the Irving family.

Hoax? Mental illness? A poltergeist? The possession of an animal by an evil spirit? Now you can read all the evidence and decide for yourself.

Seven years’ research and interviews, photographs (many previously unseen), interviews with surviving witnesses, visits to the site – all are presented here in this new book, the first examination of the case for 70 years.”

On to the 2016 FLAHSBACK…

Successful anomalous events organized by and/or featuring friends and acquaintances have recently occurred across North America – sadly, I wasn’t able to attend any of them. These ranged from the Cryptozoological Dogman Symposium organized by Ken Gerhard (and featuring Nick Redfern, Lyle Blackburn and others) to the East Coast Paracon (featuring friends Greg Bishop, Paul Kimball, Aaron Gulyas, Tim Binnall, and others) and down here in Texas, the Edinburg “Out of this World” UFO Festival (organized by Noe Torres and featuring David Hatcher Childress, Nick Redfern, Ben Hansen, Lynne Kitei, and Stephen Andrasko).

Sadly, the field of UFO inquiry has lost another great seeker… Errol Bruce-Knapp. Many in the field of (what passes for) UFO “research” won’t know who he is but they should. I came to know of him through his moderation of one of the oldest and most important UFO email lists, UFO UpDates (Archives 1996-2013). You can learn more about him (including his involvement in off-shore Pirate Radio DJ years) and his important contributions facilitating communication and hosting a community of UFO truth seekers by listening to these interviews here (on the Spectrum Radio Network), and here (with fellow Canadian Paul Kimball). He hosted several terrestrial radio shows and transitioned to internet streaming and podcasting his Strange Days… Indeed(and Mind Shift) programs. I was honored to be a guest on his show back on September 11th, 2007 (MP3). Good luck finding all of his wonderful interviews of some of the best UFO researchers. Here you can listen to him talk with legendary Area-51 researcher Glen Campbell(MP3), who hosted Errol’s UFO UpDates list site (and maintains the Archives).

“It’s alive… ALIVE!!” Austin Mufon has been resurrected as MUFON-ATX.

A couple of weeks ago I was surprised to learn that the local MUFON (Mutual UFO Network) chapter had been re-launched and begun monthly meetings held way up in the furthest reaches of North West Austin. I was involved in Austin Mufon from about 1990 until 2012 when its chain of leadership was finally broken. I led the group from about 1999 – 2002.

Above: Robert Powell “shares about cases from Georgia, England, Utah, Iowa, New York, and Canada as well as information on the process of UFO investigations.”

I was excited to learn of these new monthly meetings and attended the second such meeting held on July 31st. The meetings are at 7pm on the last Sunday of each month at Palm Beach Vapors. July’s meeting featured Austinite and Mufon’s Director of Research / Founder & Leader of Mufon’s Science Review Board. Also present were Texas Mufon leaders Steve Hudgeons (Director of Investigations & former State Director of Texas) and Teresa Turner (State Director of Texas – and State Section Director). There were about a dozen attendees from around Austin and outside the Central Texas metro area. The highlight of the meeting was getting a sneak peak of Robert Powell’s upcoming presentation for the annual Mufon Symposium 2016 – Orlando, FL – August 25th-28th whose theme is “UFOs From Our Oceans to Outer Space.” Robert’s presentation is MUFON’s Top 10 UFO Cases for 2015You can watch this sneak preview thanks to another attendee I was glad to meet, Daniel Jones of the Vortexas Network, whom I’d briefly met a few months ago in Dallas at the ParaMania event.

For this installment of the Book-of-the-Week we feel it appropriate to highlight the aforementioned Robert Powell’s contribution to the printed knowledge-base of UFO history. Robert was kind enough to speak about that history to our Anomaly Archives audience in his Lecture in 2014 (Video).

Until next time…

The words of Dr. David D. Zink, author of The Ancient Stones Speak leapt into my mind: “Changes witnessed in the heavens and associated with these catastrophes led ancient man to precise observation of the skies. ..the beginning of astronomy was motivated by survival, not superstition.”

Who is John Ford, er Frum ?  CARGO CULTure Special !

A series of recent video watching synchronicities inspired me to do another installment of our CARGO CULTure feature using some of the alien-themed videos that the YouTube-algorithm-Gods put in my path.

The John Ford / Frum references … those familiar with the story of the cargo cults on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu knowhe is “often depicted as an American World War II serviceman who will bring wealth and prosperity to the people if they follow him.”

In preparing this installment I accidentally typed Ford instead of Frum … which led me to review the case of the Long Island UFO/Alien-Believer, John Ford, who many feel has been illegally imprisoned after being framed for conspiracy to commit radiological murder. I recall first hearing about the case back in the late 1990s via the Errol Bruce Knapp’s UFO UpDates eList – he was arrested on my birthday back in 1996. Well, Mr. Ford is STILL incarcerated despite many developments of note in his case over the years. Whatever one might think about his beliefs, his case warrants our attention. You can find a wealth of information linked from our John Ford website archive.

Restore John Ford!”

Book of the Week…

More synchronicity? This past weekend as I was preparing this issue I selected a title I’d been wanting to highlight for some time as our copy is signed and addressed to the collector (Bob Girard) whose personal collection we acquired a couple of years ago (thanks to the coordination of Tom Deuley by way of the UFO Research Coalition). Well, how strange is it that the latest “Attack Against Austin” bombing occurred at Dawn Song Drive on March 18th … “On March 18, 1314, Jacques de Molay, the 23rd and final Grand Master of the Knights Templar, is burned at the stake” and coinciding the same day on the other side of the globe with a killing at the Temple Mount by a “Dawn Star”? Sometimes a coincidence is just coincidence, right?

So what is this installment’s Book-Of-The-Week? Only the Knights Templar know for sure…

Parts by Oshun (Official Video)

One of the first videos I came across when searching for artists at this year’s SXSW. I didn’t expect the Flying Saucer / Space Brotha imagery … but apparently it’s “AfroFuturism”!

Flying Saucer by Brave Combo (Fan Video)

“I don’t wanna read your book.
I don’t wanna hear your tale.
I don’t wanna see any photos you took,
or get UFO news in the mail.”

I’d heard this fantastic Texas Polka band’s classic song “Flying Saucer” quite some time ago and have seen a couple of different fan-videos – most recently the one above, suggested to me by YouTube’s algorithms. This one features a dizzying array of UFO and alien imagery from houses shaped like Flying Saucers to various photos of celebrities and movie clips pointedly referencing the lyrics.

Enjoy!

“Brave Combo is part of the Texas Commission on the Arts Touring Roster. Support for Texas schools, libraries, and non-profit organizations may be available to assist with booking fees through the Cultural Connections Performance Support grant application.”

Milla Jovovich – “The Alien Song (For Those Who Listen)” (Live Video)

Another random video featuring an alien aspect by the YouTube’s algorithms is this unexpected treasure from one of my favorite “Old Austin” venues: Liberty Lunch circa 1994 and Austin Community Access Television’s own DaveTV.org RawTime  YouTube Channel. Until seeing this I’d forgotten that model / actress (Fifth Element, Resident Evil, The Fourth Kind, etc.) Jovovich had a musical side.

Book of the Week…

The Templars and the Assassins
The Militia of Heaven
by Jim Wasserman

From the Preface

A thousand years ago the eerie stillness of what is now the Israeli desert was shattered by the thunderous cacophony of armored horses’ hooves racing to battle. The metal to metal clash of swords and lances striking armor and shield resounded through the field. Battle cries mixed with the screams of the wounded, the blasts of trumpets, the shouted commands in many foreign tongues. Muslim battled Christian for possession of a strip of land upon which both their religions were founded. Some thousands of miles away in the mountain fastness south of the Caspian Sea in modern Iraq, a Persian adept sat wrapped in a rigid posture of meditation, while his mind’s eye gazed upon another deadly scene. One of his most trusted disciples, disguised as a Sufi mystic, had just approached the litter of the powerful Seljuk vizier. His dagger plunged into the vizier’s heart seconds before he too was struck down by the guards. Hasan-i-Sabah must have experienced a moment of relief, as the death of his sworn enemy would lessen the Turkish threat to Alamut. Fate would soon smile kindly again on the besieged Assassin community as the Seljuk Sultan himself passed away within weeks of his slain vizier.

The richness of the historical truths of the Order of Assassins and the Knights Templar intertwine inexorably with the myths that have stimulated the imagination of countless minds through the centuries. Both the Assassins and Templars were destroyed as heretics some seven hundred years ago. While the Assassins (more properly Nizari Ismailis) survive to this day under the leadership of the Aga Khan, the period of their history under discussion was obliterated by their Mongolian and Mameluke conquerors in 1256 and 1273 respectively. They were slandered by Sunni heresiologists who considered them religious criminals, and by medieval Christian historians who considered them pagan idolaters. The Templars similarly have no surviving corpus of written material, despite the probability that as a medieval religious order, they kept scrupulous records of their doings. They too were written in dark ink by historians of the same power structure that tortured and murdered them and destroyed their Order. As history is written by the victors, we make haste at the outset to state that our study focuses on the vanquished.

My initial attraction to the Assassins and Templars was based on my interest in secret societies. I have devoted most of my life to participating and sharing in the mystical aspirations embodied in a secret society that claims derivation from the mythical union between the Assassins and Templars during the Crusades. I have also made a great effort to understand the influence of associations of people whose interests are far less spiritually motivated than those just described. Associations whose concerns are the political management, read domination, of mankind.

I believe that an examination of the Assassins under Hasan-i-Sabah will reveal a deeply mystical secret society which did much to manipulate the political reality of its day in order to spread its religious teaching and establish its own political freedom in a hostile environment. The Knights Templars as a group were less sophisticated. However, the early influence of the mystical teachings of St. Bernard would have created an inner corps of initiates who sought spiritual attainment through their association with the Order, and who benefited greatly by their exposure to the wisdom they would encounter in Holy Land.

Book of the Week…

Channeling
Investigations On Receiving Information From Paranormal Sources
by Jon Klimo / Foreword by Charles T. Tart

“In this study of channeling, earlier called spirit communication or mediumship, Klimo, who teaches at Rosebridge Graduate School in the San Francisco Bay Area, writes with clarity about “the communication of information to or through a physically embodied human being from a source…on some other level or dimension of reality other than the physical as we know it.” He profiles recent channels and their sources, goes back to preliterate societies and the advent of monotheism and identifies as channels such figures as Moses, Solomon, Muhammad, Merlin, Nostradamus, Swedenborg and Edgar Cayce. He discusses the sorts of people who are channels, kinds of information channeled, sources of information channeled and varieties of channeling like clairvoyance and automatic writing. According to Klimo, few people tap into their abilities to perform channelingand for those who think they can, he serves as guide.”

Book of the Week…

The Starseed Transmissions

by Ken Carey / Raphael

The Starseed Transmissions Books
Channelled by Ken Carey
(Ken Carey returned to Spirit in January 2017)

“Ken Carey, a contemporary New Age medium and channel, was a postal worker as a young man. Frustrated, he and his family moved to a farm where they lived without most modern conveniences such as electricity, plumbing, radio, television, newspapers, and magazines. Carey apprenticed himself to an Amish farmer. At one point in the later 1970s, lying in bed with a severe cold, he felt a presence and heard a low humming he described as an energy field. Then a voice spoke to him.

During the winter of 1978-79 he channelled for 11 days. The entities that spoke through him sometimes appeared as angels (including the Archangel Raphael) or extraterrestrials. However, during the later sessions, an entity declared “I am Christ. I am coming this day through the atmosphere of your consciousness…. I am the bridegroom, spoken of old. I came to you first through the man named Jesus.”  The transcripts of these sessions were published as The Starseed Transmissions in 1982 and became an early channelled New Age classic. The popular response led to the publication of further volumes based on the channelings.

The entities who spoke through Carey emphasized the central New Age message. They had emerged in order to assist human evolution. It was time to lift the spell of matter and to bring forth a new planetary being. Humankind, Carey argued, is poised on the brink of a momentous transformation: The earth is ripe for harvest. Two resources are available to assist humans in the transformative period: the advanced intelligences, such as those channeling through Carey; and the creative power of thought. As with other New Age channellings, Carey’s emphasizes the problems of over-reliance on rational thought in problem solving and living with guilt imposed in younger years.”
