“McKenna UFO” / “Terence McKenna – UFO’s, etc.” – A Miles-Mystery-Mashup that aired on Austin’s Community Access Cable channel.

As mentioned in a previous posting (Encounters With The Fantastic: The Transformative UFO Paradigm) in the 1990’s to early 2000’s, “I was prone to making audio-video mashups on VHS tape. Some of these ended up airing on ACTV / ACAC (Austin Access Austin Community Access Cable / Austin Community TeleVision).” This is one of those mashups that made it onto ACTV. The video was promoting Anomaly Community dot com which was one of the many domain names I operated for a time; this one from about 2002-2007.

The video foundation bed for this mashup is one of my all time favorite Fortean science fiction movies, Quatermass And The Pit, aka Five Million Years to Earth, circa 1967 which we featured as one of the films we played at our 2010 Summer Flying Saucer Film Fest!

It features audio in the form of a radio play from a rare Roswell related piece, “Roswell: The Unheard Broadcast” (first 13 minutes of this video), featuring actor John De Lancie. You likely know De Lancie as the actor who played Q, the “omnipotent being who embodies mischief and chaos” … “beginning with Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1987 and leading up to the third season of Star Trek: Picard in 2023”. The audio was in promotion of the 1994 release of Roswell: The U.F.O. Coverup from Republic Home Video that starred Kyle MacLachlan (as Jesse A. Marcel) and Martin Sheen.

After that audio, I incorporated recordings from Terence McKenna’s famous Talking Book version of his book True Hallucinations, wherein he rants about the paranoia of Jacques Vallee’s UFO Control System hypothesis. The included audio are from the important chapters that were omitted from the paperback edition of the book. Layered on top of all that is some groovy techno music melded with old Apple iTunes Visualizer effects which, as stated in the previous post… “Sometimes the music is a bit overpowering but, there you go.”
