Jones, C. B. Scott

Cecil B. “Scott” Jones

On Monday, January 16, 2023, at 7:43 p.m., C.B. “Scott” Jones Jr. “slipped the surly bonds of Earth” to “touch the face of God.” Born in Emporia, KS, to the late Cecil Beam Jones Sr. and Irene Moyer Parker on February 19, 1928, he nearly lost his life in infancy to pneumonia; a miracle then, he survived. He lived a remarkable and long life just a month shy of his 95th birthday when pneumonia (plus COVID) determined otherwise.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Marilyn Osburn Jones of Mission, TX; and his daughter, Candi Jones Docton, Kerrville. Grandchildren are Jennifer (Sp. Ben) and Rachel (Sp. Brian). Great-grandchildren are William, Samuel, Evelyn and Lydia.

The Cecil. B. “Scott” Jones collection contains original documents from the 1960s-2013 and copied documents from as early as 1943. These time periods are represented through correspondence, memos, reports, journals, books/book transcripts, slideshow printouts, receipts, and notes. Of particular note is correspondence between Jones and Laurence Rockefeller, Prince Hans Adam Liechtenstein, Rima Laibow, Uri Geller, and Dick Cheney. There are drafts of letters sent to presidents Goerge Bush Jr., Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama. Another meaningful aspect of the collection is correspondence, receipts, reports, and conference proceedings for the multiple conferences and symposiums run by Jones at various points in his professional career on topics ranging from Thanatology to UFOs. A significant portion of the collection consists of printed or copied articles, websites, biographies, pamphlets, or essays usually related to Jones’ personal and professional interests in UFOs or Parapsychology. There are also documents related to Jones’ personal life including, correspondence with family members and close friends, memoirs, family and personal photographs, government and business forms, postcards/greeting cards, certifications, flyers, pamphlets, cassette tapes, and illustrations.

Free Austin Lecture: C.B. Scott Jones on UFO Disclosure - Austin, November 25th

C. B. Scott Jones –

From 1985 to 1991 Jones was employed by Senator Claiborne Pell of Rhode Island. Jones was hired as a member of the Senator’s staff for the quite remarkable stated purpose of studying paranormal phenomena, as reported in 1990 by The Washington Post.

In another early 1990’s article titled, Will the Real Scott Jones Please Stand Up?, writer/researcher Robert J. Durant called Jones “the most ubiquitous character in ufology and parapsychology,” a reference to his significant involvement in both fields. Jones was a regular attendee of related conferences during the 1980’s and 1990’s. He was as aware of the trending stories and activities of the high profile players as practically anyone anywhere.

Reports, such as referenced by Durant, have long indicated Jones claimed to experience a UFO sighting involving a “silver disc” and a later “parapsychological” event during his Navy career. More recent reports suggest Jones tends to narrate alleged fantastic experiences involving intelligent non-human beings, the memories of which were recovered with assistance from psychics and hypnotists.

Jones wrote that such experiences were a revelation and described them as his now 83 years of “personal contact with ETs.” He added he does not discuss the experiences in detail.
