Sam the Sandown Clown – Entity Case
Sam the Sandown Clown (also known as “All Colors Sam”) is a bizarre 1973 British cryptid case involving two children who encountered a “clown-robot-alien” entity at Lake Common on the Isle of Wight. The entity reportedly spoke, had a 30-minute interaction with the children, and vanished, remaining a unique, unsolved, and often surreal “high-strangeness” event.

Having been actively involved in UFO research now for over forty years I have at one point or another dealt with most aspects of the UFO phenomena. For many years I had an on-going interest in UFO landing cases here in the UK after investigating one such case in the early 1980’s. There is a wide variety of such landing cases many of which are unique and packed with aspects of ‘high strangeness.’ Perhaps this next case from the early 1970’s is one of the most unusual on record. The events that happened on the Isle of Wight, just off the south coast of England in May 1973 are one of the most unusual, some might say bizarre UFO landing and entity cases on record. The original investigator of this case was Norman Oliver of the British UFO Research Association (BUFORA). When Norman passed away his archive of materials including the original case file on this case was donated to the Archives for the Unexplained (AFU) in Sweden. Philip Mantle, FLYING DISK PRESS.
The full original case report from the ARCHIVES FOR THE UNEXPLAINED (AFU) follows a brief case summary. It is the first of what is hoped to be a series of releases from the AFU which will help raise valuable funds in order to protect the current archive and help acquire other collections and save them from going in the bin. This publication is the first between the AFU in Sweden and FLYING DISK PRESS in the UK.
