The Real Commentaries of the Incas or First part of the real commentaries is a historical-literary book written by the Peruvian writer Inca Garcilaso de la Vega . It was published in Lisbon in 1609 . It deals with the history, customs and traditions of Ancient Peru , although focusing on the Inca period . It is the first great work of Peruvian literature and one of the most important of the colonial period. Some consider it as the epic song of the Peruvian nationality. In the historiographical field he had a lot of influence between Peruvian and American historians, until the middle of the 19th century, when its historical value began to be questioned.
